Breaking down the mold
Slag pan and waste mold parts
Shearing the Sprue using hydraulic bender.
Cutting the sprue and breaking off the risers.
Completed Thermite Welds waiting to be cleaned up.
After grinding the tracks are ready to use as soon as the temperature is below about 700°F.
Each weld normally takes an hour from start to stop. Often welds are made between rail traffic.
