SOFA 2008 - Thermite Welding RR-Rail

The charge of thermite. The total cost of materials per weld is roughly $100 including the thermite, fuse and disposable molds and crucible. That does not include the kit of tools (mold boxes, handling tools, torch stand, shear. . .).

The crucilbe lid covers the charge prior to the preheat.

Starting the preheat. In ten minutes the weld will be completed.
