This project grew out of ideas to make a stake from pieces of RR-rail (see drawing below) then grew into the work you see here.
As a low budget project the materials were what could be found economically and were not necessarily the optimum.
As a hobby smith Stefaan had to borrow the use of much of the equipment to make this anvil.
The result is a beautiful piece of work.
Stefaan has studied anvils and their manufacturing with an artist's eye for line and proportion.
While there is nothing original in this tool it shows great apreciation for the great tool makers of the 17th and 18th centuries.

One reason for the early clean up is that two punching holes (not shown here) were drilled in the square section.

It was dressed and the steel conditioned by heating and forging after welding.
