ITC-100 HT Ceramic Coating is a versatile high temperature coating
that has proven to achieve outstanding energy savings and refractory
protection. Use it alone or as a base coat for other ITC
products. It is used as a covering for ceramic fiber insulation or
castable refractory. This material reflects radiant heat back into the
furnace to achieve high temperatures quickly and efficiently.
Preparation and Application
ITC-100 HT
Preparation: Prepare the
surface by removing all loose and weakened fiber, bricks, debris, particles,
dust and grease from interior walls, door, crown, floor and grooves behind
electrical elements. Immediately before applying ITC 100, dampen these
areas by spraying lightly with water.
Mixing: Mix to one pint of ITC-100 1/2 pint of water and mix well.
Applying: Spraying is the best method of application. A sprayer made for applying "popcorn" finishes works well. For small applications a brush can be
used.
When doing small jobs up to and including coating small forges the ITC-100 can be thinned in the jar using a small brush and adding water with the brush.
Work the water on the surface of the ITC-100 with the brush until enough ITC-100 is mixed with the water to create a slurry.
To apply multiple coats of ITC-100 fire between coats.
WARNING: Do NOT apply any surface
coatings, such as ITC-100 over refractory cement (castable, premix or patching) until
the refractory is fully calcined (cured and fired).
Sealing the surface may cause steam explosions as the refractory is heated.
