Volumes 32 - 34 2004 Special Announcement
Portriat Dona Meilach
From: Dona Z. Meilach, author

I am pleased to announce that I am now gathering materials for a new book to be titled:

This would be the same type of book as my recent Architectural Ironwork, The Contemporary Blacksmith, Fireplace Accessories, and others, but with all new examples. Pieces can be almost anything from practical to super funky, from table accessories to architectural elements. Think about furniture, light fixtures, railings, gates, grilles, fireplace screens, wind vanes, door pulls, sculpture, etc. etc. They must be current (within the past 3-5 years), and sculptural.

Along with the finished pieces, I would like to include:
  • Working shots, if available, and photo series showing how the object progresses (not essential).
  • The artist at work on a project.
  • Sketches or maquettes would be nice.
  • Thought processes as to how the idea evolved.
  • Any problems and their solutions while creating the piece (not essential).
The emphasis will be on modern expressions but work based on historical examples is encouraged. If you're not sure, send me snaps, photos, or digital images and we can see how they may fit in. There's plenty of time so if you have something in the works or are thinking about it now's the time to begin and have it ready for a

Photos can be 35mm slides (preferred), transparencies, prints, or high resolution digital images. Slides and transparencies reproduce the best. Please provide materials, sizes, ideas, inspiration, collector, photo credit, and gallery credit where applicable.

Please email, write, fax, or phone if you have any questions. Check my other titles at under my name at,, or

I'm anxious to see what you have done. If you know of other artists whose work should be included, please send me their contact information, or ask them to contact me.

Please print and sign the attached photo release when you send photos.
