Photos from Ted Mays, Tool Collection Tour   Small 57 lb. Hay-Budden Anvil

Small anvils such as this are relatively rare and in great demand by artists and jewelers.

Because they are small they harden much harder than larger hard to quench anvils. The result is a very hard face and harder edges that tend to chip. This is the reason the edges of an anvil should be radiused by the owner.

  • Stamped Hay Budden Manufacturing Brooklyn NY
  • Forged Steel
  • WEIGHT: 57 pounds
  • Face 3.25 x 11.25 inches
  • Horn 7 inches
  • Base 7.75 x 6.75 inches
  • Fair Condition, some worn edges and chipping, face is pitted from rust.
Small Hay-Budden anvil

This anvil is exactly like it was when we purchaed it (as are all our anvils). We do not repair the anvils we are selling.

This particular anvil could be easily dressed to perfection with some light grinding. In the process the edges can be cleaned up by blending the roughness into radii.
