This is a nice little shop made hardie or jeweler's anvil with a forged welded and hardened steel face.
While it is a little rough it took more than hobbiest blacksmithing skills to make it.
It has a very nice little square hardie hole passing throught both the hard face and body but no round punching hole as is typical in jeweler's anvils.
The shank is about 3/4" (19mm), the hard steel face about 1/4" (6.3mm) thick and 1" (24mm) wide.
The small shank size indicates it either fit an old small anvil of 100 lbs (45gk) or less.
Or perhaps it was made to fit a stand, swage block or a vise.
