Sean says that living in China is like stepping back in time a few hundred years.
However, I suspect these scenes of traditional work methods will soon be a part of the past.
This work holding bench is akin to a Western shaving horse as the worker sits on it but this Chinese version is not foot operated, a wedging system holds the work.
Unlike the Japanese work holding clamp that uses actual wedges the Chinese version does not.
This one has a board that apparently is also being used somewhat like a bird-mouth bench pin.

"Sen" is the Japanese word for this tool. It is a heavy duty scraper or plane for metal used by bladesmiths.
