Dishing and Hemispherical Dies:
This is one of the few tools that Russell had a machinist make. The ball and socket were machined.
Russell welded on the shank.
Tools for dishing candle pans can be made with simple tooling as demonstrated by Jr. Stassil in his iForge demo.
(Figures 2 and 3 below).
Jr's bottom dishing dies are made from a ring of round bar stock welded to a plate.
His dies have the convienient feature of a center post to align the blank.
As shown the dies are being used with hot plate but on a press the dishing could be done cold.
