ABANA 2000 Conference Slide Show

guru : `01:38:13`	Tonight's 'demo' is a slide show from the ABANA conference. I haven't sorted all the pics so these are not necessarily the best OR in order. Some of you may be able to identify the folks better than I can.

guru : `01:45:40`	His little 18# self contained air hammer worked just like and SOUNDED just like the real thing!
guru : `01:46:58`	This compound leverage leg vise was at the Blacksmiths Journal table. I believe they have plans for it.

guru : `01:49:00`	The funny man with the bunny ears is Tom Clark of the Ozark School of blacksmithing. The Ears are his symbol of official Iron in the Hat collector. . .!
guru : `01:50:56`	This slick machine is a air chasing chisle. It uses a standard air chisle in a slip fir collar. Weights are added to the top to make the blows harder.

guru : `01:52:04`	This "turbo forge" is the most sophisticated monster of a gas forge I've ever seen.

guru : `01:53:36`	This is Tom Trosask demonstrating his new Bull hammer.
guru : `01:55:22`	These fellows are Olin Wrought Iron. They produce components and textured and patterned bar bar.

guru : `02:03:35`	This is Paw-Paw and Ralph Douglas at the Whitaker memorial wall.
guru : `02:05:38`	The wall memorialized Francis Whitaker, Bill Pieh, Emmert Studebaker and others that have helped make blacksmithing what it is today.
guru : `02:07:38`	These are forged peppers. You would swear they were the real thing!
guru : `02:11:47`	This snail and flower is one of numerous works by the Mexican smiths that were there. The detail in these small pieces was amazing.
guru : `02:13:23`	There's Bruce Wallace trying out a KA-75. He liked them enough he is going to be the Eastern US sales rep.

guru : `02:15:54`	There's Mark again during the JYH competition. We had a lot of trouble with photos taken in the tents due to back lighting. . :(
guru : `02:17:43`	This is Dan Dreyer with his Electric Drive hammer prototype. A very slick running mechanical hammer. Its a spring helve without a clutch. The variable speed control does it all.

guru : `02:19:40`	The Wednesday evening demo was some heavy duty pipe forging. The 12" diameter tube just did slip into the round forge it was heated in!
guru : `02:21:07`	The piece was wrestled up on the press and cow eyes buldged out using the press and tooling that fit inside the pipe.
guru : `02:23:25`	This press did OK but wasn't good for forging. Daryl Meier used it several days later to do some low temperature welding and had a fit with it. He DID manage to weld laminates at 1500°F
