While some consider forgeing loud, hammering on a steel bench can be much louder. So, besides shoes, Brinkley has no obvious hearing protection. Shoes of any kind are better than none. Heavy leather shoes are better than cloth or light tennis shoes. In the shop steel toed shoes are recommended at all times.

The problem is that every situation requires different protective gear. We can't all wear all our protective gear at once. Common sense is the key factor.
