So, whatever you can pay that will help me with my postage bill will be accepted with thanks, and the hope that, as your magazine becomes more profitable, you will be able to up the rates. And I hope that won't be too long a time, as I will hit the old mark of 82 years come September 30th. Meanwhile, e-mail me your snail mail address for sending cartoons. Best, Frank, Congratulations on surviving to a "mature" age. Please understand that anvilfire is a one man operation right now that needs three! We are also an on-line only publication. Sort of an e-zine where I answer questions and provide help to blacksmiths world wide. This is our fourth year and will be just doing a little better than breaking even. Web pages are hard to determine the actual number of readers but we believe it is somewhere around 16,000. We are NOT one of those heavily financed DOT.COMs you hear about. I'll do a lot better than pay postage costs but as a one time artist myself I know how much time goes into these things and I hate paying rates that are near insulting. We have no publication "schedule" there are new things on the page every day. We DO have a once a week on-line demonstration on Wednesday nights (tonight). The demo gets archived and posted after the demo. And we also have a "story" page where we are publishing a blacksmith novel one chapter a month. I do the illustrations for the story. SO, Send away and we will see how things work and what I can afford. I'm sure your cartoons will attact more traffic and that is where the money is on the Internet. Our readers are mostly blacksmiths and welders but we also get a lot of school kids looking for information for reports or just out of curiousity. I know funny when I see it but I can barely tell a joke much less make one up. So I'm afraid I won't be much help on subject matter. I am terribly embarrassed that it has taken so long to do something with your cartoons. Since we were last in contact I have gotten divorced, moved, formed a non-profit organization, had the chairman of the non-profit die in a tragic accident, had the next one "move on", I've also become a grandfather. . . Life flies by. Honestly, I had misplaced your comics until I was unpacking one of dozens of boxes from moving. I have setup the 32 items you sent (thumbnail proof sheet attached). They are set to display a new comic or article each week along with the work of a couple other cartoonists. Previous items can be viewed for one week. Thus each item will run for two weeks. Some will run once a year, some twice. http://www.anvilfire.com/gallery/comics/comic_of_the_week.php OR just go to anvilfire.com There is a link and thumbnail on the right hand menu. The magazine articles were all retyped and the images pulled out and restored. A banner was made from the Old Welder logo. I am still working on setting up many details. Each comic has a counter so we can keep track of views. I need to confirm a current address and whom to send a check to. Please note the new mailing address below and the email (,net) at the top. Again, I'm sorry for the long, long delay. Jock Dempsey 4714 Granite Trail Boonville, NC 27011 attached: inventory sheet Dec 5, 2009 enclosing a check for $500 For 32 cartoons.
