LARGE 215lb Old Blacksmith anvil. Here is an interesting old anvil I cam across. I have no idea what it was made for, for sure but it is not a homemade anvil. It measures approx. 12 ½” tall, the top is about 3 ¼” wide by 17” long with about a 7/8” square hardie hole. The base is about 8 ¼” wide by 15” long and it weighs about 215 pounds. The top is a little uneven (I tried to get good pictures) and there is a chip out of one of the corners. I am sure that this anvil never had a horn on it for there is no sign of it breaking off. This would make a good beginner anvil or good if you wanted a heavy anvil around the shop. All you need is an old forge, some coal, maybe an old post vise, a hammer and some tongs, and this old anvil and you would be all set ready to start your own smithy.
