THE BLACKSMITH (herrero,forgeron,Kunstschmied or fabbro)
The Blacksmith's shop has many tools, anvils, tongs, bellows, forges, welders, bender, punches.
And there are smaller tools such as the hardy (a chisel that fits in the anvil), pritichel (a long pointed punch) and special jigs and fixtures.
The Blacksmith works at his Peddinghaus anvil and fire using hammer and tongs.
His favorite power tool is an old mechanical trip-hammer made by Little Giant but he has a Kuhn forging machine.
He dreams of having an ABANA chapter blacksmithing conference or hammer-in at his smithy one day.
That reminds him that his ABANA-Chapter dues are due.
He asks his blacksmith neighbor about the how-to required to plan a hamme-in or "hammerfest" as the neighbor calls it.
His normal day starts with building a hot coal fire blown by a hand operated bellows, but today he will be using a propane gas furnace made by NC-TOOLS.
The Blacksmith works at and old Hay-Budden anvil when the wrought iron work is tool heavy for his Peddinghaus.
He builds balconys and hand railings to make a living but also does artist blacksmith work to please himself.
Without thinking the smith forges a French fleur-de-les on the fly for a fence he is making.
His neighbor has a Junk Yard Hammer that he hammers out armor or armour.
He does no welding claiming to be an artisan, not a welder or machinist.
As a metalworker he is of the old school.
His metalworking skills are those of a true craftsman.
