The Twelfth Annual Batson Bladesmithing Symposium & Knife Show
April 7-9, 2000
Report by James Wolfe
|
Cousin William White demonstrated an "old timey" knife making
technic by making a knife out of an old buggy spring. First, he
forged the blade, then he filed and shaped the blade to make a
nice hunting knife.

While watching Cousin Willy's demo, I first met Merrill Davis,
age 21, and his grandad, M.B. Davis, 82 year's young. Merrill, from
Mapleton Georgia, is a three-year blacksmith. His grandad became
interested in blacksmithing through his grandson. This is the
second Batson Symposium Merrill has attended.
