Double stack forge at J.P. Riley & Sons, Inc. in Reading, PA. Bruce Wallace took us to see Joe Riley and look at some equipment.

This pre Civil War shop is located in a downtown neighborhood. Originally a livery and farriers shop the Rileys now do small industrial forging.

Double blowers feed air to the forge. Electric and manual blowers are connected to the same pipe. The hand crank blower would give that fine control necessary for doing fine work.

I didn't have the presence of mind to look for a blower on the right hand side of the forge.

Sorry about the bad focus. My Olympus digital camera will take beautiful photographs in low light but the stupid automatic focus won't work in the same light!
