Dave Fisher demonstrating the use of a bending jig held in the hardy hole of the anvil.
Jim Miklos from American Homestead forging a door latch. Jim described each step as he went through his demonstration.
Detail from above. Jim is using the reins of the tongs as "fingers" to fuller or neck down the stock. This is a great technique if you don't forget and handle the tongs by the reins! This is also one of the many techniques you do not want to perform using tongs made of tool steel. Lighter tool steel tongs rely on proper temper for strength. Using the reins for fingers may soften the steel causing the tongs to bend later.
Josh Greenwood also demonstrated. Above he is demonstrating hammer handling technique. Josh likes to use a relatively light hammer and swing it with a snap requiring a light grip. Rather than pushing the hammer he prefers to use velocity to produce powerful blows. Bruce Wallace striking for Josh Greenwood during his second demonstration. Here Josh is demonstrating some of his famous leaf forging tools and techniques. Josh spent over a year developing tools for forging fancy Icanthus type leaves using a power hammer.
