These side draft chiminey forges were all over the site and show up in many of the previous photos. They worked quite well and are a proven design. Note the large 10" (25cm) vent pipe (or is it 12"?). |

Someone asked about a "smoke shelf" and I said this is the clearest use you are going to see. The sloping back cuts the smoke box in half at the top. Smoke shelves accelerate the air in the chimney and act as a choke point to prevent back flow from down drafts. |
